First, a few things to bring to your attention: The Women On Wheels® Trustee Election Notice was in the Jan/Feb issue on page 26. Please refer to the Jan/Feb issue page 26 for that information and timeline. The deadline to receive the nomination petition is April 1, with a March 28 postmark. Please see page 8 in this issue for the TRUSTEE NOMINATION PETITION. You may photocopy the petition, but it must be postmarked by March 28 and received by April 1 in order to be considered.
NOW is the time to make sure your name, address, phone number, and any services you wish to offer to our membership are correct in the Member Directory. If you were not in last year’s directory and want to be, or you were in last year’s and you did not want to be, or if you have changed your information in any way, please contact Beth in the main office and make the corrections ASAP.
Reminder: we moved the Annual Mileage Contest to the May/June issue in order to have more time to ensure all members who participated are accounted for and their mileage is correct.
Also, if you move please update your information with Beth as quickly as possible in order to keep your magazines delivered on time. Magazines are not forwarded and you may experience a missed issue if your address is not correct. Remember, too, that if your membership is not renewed before your expiration date, depending upon when you do renew, your magazine might not be delivered to you. We do not want you to miss a single issue!…
…This issue was truly a once in a lifetime event! Due to the nature of our organization, and the fact that our members spread out across the country and beyond to Nova Scotia and England, and beyond again, I do not get the opportunity to actually present an issue to a cover girl. Even when some Florida members made the cover, I was living in Georgia and could not actually present them their cover issue. Same thing when I lived in Georgia and the Atlanta members made the cover, I was over 100 miles away and the logistics of presenting the issue were too complicated. So what about taking the July/August issue and perhaps presenting it at the Ride-In™? Rarely does the issue make my mailbox before I have to get on the road to arrive at the Ride-In™ on time, as I usually head out in late June. So, imagine my delight when the July/August 2007 issue arrived the day before my departure to the 2007 21st Ride-In™ to Springfield, Missouri!
I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and that was surprise Nancy at the Ride-In™ with her cover issue! I got together with her Chapter members who rode with her to Springfield, and they created a “diversion” so we could get Nancy to our presentation location. If memory serves me correctly, I think we had to “lie” to her to get her where we wanted her. Once there, I presented her with her cover issue and I’m not sure who was most overwhelmed, Nancy or me! Either way, it was one of the most exciting times for me as your editor. Another interesting fact, Nancy’s Chapter The Dreamcatchers, was featured on my very first magazine as your editor. They made it so easy for me to step into my first issue. They had a great story, accompanied by great photos. Thank you Nancy and thank you Dreamcatchers. *See page 2 for Nancy’s cover.
My photo above is from the Sept/Oct 2009 issue. Featured is my 2006 Triumph Speed Four. Ahhh, to be younger and thinner again!
